May 19, 2005

Yet, more good news for fans who have been waiting anxiously for tell of more MovieTales coming to DVD! The official announcement from Sony and MGM has been made that on August 9th 2005, the following MovieTales will be released on DVD:

- Beauty & The Beast

- Rumpelstiltskin

- The Emperor's New Clothes

- Hansel & Gretel

- Snow White

- Puss In Boots

The only two MovieTales excluded from that list are Sleeping Beauty and The Frog Prince... Well, Sleeping Beauty has already been released in Australia, so perhaps they're putting a larger gap between releases. However, I haven't a clue, as to why The Frog Prince won't be put out to DVD along with the others above...

October 7, 2003

After much researching [a little more than 5 months], it has become official knowledge that in December of 2002, there were DVD releases of the Cannon Movie Tales in Germany under the EMS distribution label. Obviously, they held considerably strong appeal in that country to encourage and receive a DVD release. Follow the link below to read more about them. Many thanks to Derek for his contribution to my researching of this matter.

Deutsche MovieTale DVD Releases

August 15, 2003

Some new news for you all from a fellow Cannon Tales fan by name of Chris Moore:

"I recently e-mailed MGM (who now holds the rights to all of Cannon's library). They said that there is absolutely no Cinderella film in their library. They do not know if it was ever filmed or even thought of (But the back of a Cannon Storybook says it was).

"I also asked them about the release of the Cannon Movie Tales. They say that they have great prints of them in the vault but they have a lot of work to do this year so they said that maybe a mid/late 2004 or early 2005 DVD release would happen."

Thank you for that new info, Chris!

July 11, 2003

We have new &, what might be considered, final evidence regarding the rumour of there being the new Cannon Movie Tale: Cinderella.

Reid Taylor, the conductor of the interview with David Irving posted on this site, has contacted me regarding this matter and has brought it to my attention that this rumour of a Cinderella Movie Tale is just that - a rumour.

Someone mistakenly added it to The Internet Movie Database some time ago and, ever since then, it has snowballed into an even bigger rumour than when it was started.

So, to make this very plain...

_______________________________

There IS substantial evidence that a Cinderella MovieTale was PLANNED.

HOWEVER

A Cinderella MovieTale was NOT put into production.

May 17, 2003

I don't think anyone, except maybe the Cannon Films people responsible for the Movie Tales, knows for sure whether or not a 'Cinderella' installment was made but with the help of another fan of the series, we know now that there were definately plans for one.

There was a storybook released a long time ago in conjunction with the Sleeping Beauty film. On the back of that book's cover was a list of all the 'soon-to-be-released' Movie Tales. 'Cinderella' was one of them mentioned.

Many thanks to Derek for the information!

April 14, 2003

Bad news, I'm afraid... I just received word from areas on the internet that the whole thing about there being a 'Cinderella' Movie Tale is completely untrue... Apparently, it's being said that someone had merely started a rumour that it had been filmed within the timespan of the others but, because Cannon Films was going bankrupt at the time, it never made it to video. The news spread from one fan to another. Truth became hope. Hope became rumour.

I'm still looking into this though. Don't lose heart.

January 23, 2003

Step aside & add a new name to the 'Cinderella' cast roster! I have currently discovered that Sarah Patterson, Cannon's very own Snow White, has a role in the newest Movie Tale as a Dancer at the Ball!

So here is the current cast list for 'Cinderella':

Diana Rigg as Lady Maude Triklay (step-mother)

Amelia Shankley as Gemma Triklay (step-sister)

Nicola Stapleton as Emma Triklay (step-sister)

Sarah Patterson as Dancer At The Ball

January 12, 2003

It's been a year and finally I found some news through the internet that a complete 'Cinderella' is being marketed slimly in the UK. How true that is has still to be researched fully but as soon as I acquire more info, I will report back here.

January 29, 2002

As currently as the summer of last year, there has been confirmed talk that after such a long stint, Cannon Films is now producing a new Movie Tale called Cinderella! It is not scheduled to be released in America until December 15, 2002 but I think it will be well-worth the wait.

The cast credits, so far, are as follows:

Diana Rigg as Lady Maude Triklay (step-mother)

Amelia Shankley as Gemma Triklay (step-sister)

Nicola Stapleton as Emma Triklay (step-sister)

All three actresses have been in previous Movie Tales. Dianna Rigg has starred in "Snow White" as the Evil Queen. Nicola Stapleton has starred right alongside her as the innocent, young Snow White. And Amelia Shankley has starred in "Red Riding Hood" as the leading role. All three are excellent performers and I am certain will enrichen "Cinderella" to the fullest.
